My latest piece of textile art is finished.

This is my latest piece of textile art, finished just in time for our group exhibition. there are only two of us doing textiles, all the rest are drawing or painting. I t is the Chapelle St. Barbe in Roscoff.

Here are a few pictures I took as the work progressed.

I have really enjoyed doing this one - I'm looking for my next project now!

Here are some close ups.

A new piece of Textile Art

This is a piece of art I produced with my friend Nicole in classes we run with her through our association 'Artyculture'.

I started with a colour photocopy of a photograph and cut a piece out of it.

Then I made a piece of felt using wool rovings and my embellishing machine.

Finally, I replaced the piece cut from the photograph with the piece of felt.

I was very happy with the result!

My new organisation!

Since my last post we went to Ikea and bought a chest of drawers to tidy up the conservatory. Ron was fed up with my boxes of material everywhere and I was worried about my precious stash fading in the sunshine!

So, before and after photos, I can even use my cutting mat on the table!!

I am always struggling to keep track of my machine sewing needles but I found a pattern on Craftsy which will solve the problem. Here is my new needle storage.

The pattern can be found here,

My up-cycling project!

My dad gave me a small chest of metal drawers from his office. I have no idea how old they were but as he retired 30 years ago they are very ancient!

The drawers are a very good size for bobbins of thread and other sewing items. I hated the look of them, dark green and very 'utility' but with a coat of paint and some fabric (donated to my stash by Karin) they look much better.

We bought a chest of drawers at Ikea for all my sewing things cluttering up the conservatory so off to get on with organising now!

Back again......

After almost a year of silence I am back to my blog. I have now had a Facebook page for several months and seem to be keeping up with that! So that I can post more about some things I have decided to put stuff on the blog and link it with my Facebook page.... so let's give it a go.

This week saw the arrival of our new sofa and chair.

To celebrate we had a 'sofa warming' evening with Karin and Rudolf. A bottle of champagne and a lovely meal, mainly cooked for us by Ron! How wonderful it is to have a husband who cooks!!

Rudolf and Ron are planning a fishing trip on Monday, weather permitting, for a BBQ Monday evening. Karin has a contingency plan of fish already caught and frozen just in case they let us down on the day!!!!

Super little presents.

I spent a little while the other day making some little holders to put paper tissues in.

They are really and quick to make and make great little gifts. The instructions came from the Quilting Board, here is the link

A new cushion and a new experience!

There is a new cushion on the armchair now. It is the latest in my idea of having lots of cushions in all different techniques to add interest to a drab sofa. They are taking a long time to acquire!!

This was a pattern form the France Patchwork magazine which had about 30 of these made into a quilt.

The new experienmce was a trip out to sea from Roscoff on the motor sailing boat owned by our friends Rudolf & Karin. I was a bit scared I must admit but it was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful trip. I was allowed to take the rudder for a lot of the journey and, thanks to the sea sickness tablets I was fine. Here is a piccie of the boat and of Ron with Rudolf at the helm!

It was a shame we didn't do any fishing but there's always another day.
